Carson City road report for Sept. 7-13

The following information applies to the period of Sept. 7-13.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11, Race Track Road will be closed between Bigelow Drive and Saddlehorn Road due to utility work. Saddlehorn Road will be open to local traffic only, and there will be limited access during night hours. Detours will be signed.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11, State Street will be closed to through traffic due to construction.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11, Imperial Way between Gardengate and Applegate ways and Gardengate Way at Imperial Way will be closed due to construction. Detours will be signed.

Crews will continue re-striping pavement markings on roadways throughout the city Sunday, Sept. 6, through Thursday, Sept. 10, each night from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be a moving traffic control at locations where the striping occurs, with minor delays expected.

Due to sidewalk improvements, there will be lane closures at the following locations:

Long Street between Carson and Stewart streets

The outside northbound lane on Carson Street between Park and Long streets

Fall Street at Long Street

Peters Street at Long Street

The Nevada Department of Transportation will continue construction of drainage improvements on U.S. Highway 50 West between the two truck ramps (just west of U.S. 395 to Sierra Highlands Drive). There will be lane closures weekdays, but the roadway will remain open to traffic in both directions.

The E. William Street shared use path project is underway and takes place off of the street on the south side of William Street between Saliman Road and Gold Dust West Way. It will not effect traffic on William Street. However, vehicles crossing through the construction area should use caution. The path is closed for the duration of the project and a detour is marked.

Clear Creek Avenue remains closed to through traffic between Lynette Lane and Center Drive due to utility work. Detours are signed and the JAC bus stop on Clear Creek Avenue is temporarily relocated near the intersection of Frontage Road and Clear Creek Avenue. In addition, Clear Creek Avenue will be closed between Center Drive and Snyder Avenue beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Thursday, Sept. 10. The JAC bus stop on Clear Creek Avenue east of Center Drive will be temporarily relocated west of Center Drive, while the bus stop near Snyder Avenue will be temporarily closed.

Work on the construction of the Carson City Freeway continues. Drivers are asked to use caution in the areas around the construction site, particularly along S. Carson Street.

The following road closures are scheduled due to events.

On Friday, Sept. 11, Third Street will be closed between Carson and Curry streets from 2 p.m. to midnight.

On Saturday, Sept. 12, Ann Street will be closed between Carson and Plaza streets from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m.
