LAS VEGAS — Nevada’s health care exchange will not operate brick-and-mortar enrollment stores this year during the sign-up period for government-subsidized health insurance due to costs.

Silver State Health Insurance Exchange Executive Director Bruce Gilbert tells the Las Vegas Sun that last year, less than 10 percent of enrollees came into the state’s two physical stores, which cost more than $50,000 per month to rent.

The exchange operated one store in northern Nevada and one in Las Vegas where consumers could enroll through Nevada Health Link with help from insurance brokers and navigators.

This year, insurance brokers and navigators will be available to help consumers at broker offices. Open enrollment for 2016 health coverage starts Nov. 1 and ends Jan. 31.
