RENO — Despite missing three starters, Carson High’s volleyball team rolled to a 25-22, 25-9 and 25-12 win over Hug Thursday night in a Division I crossover match.
The Senators played without outside hitter Juliana Anderson, who was on a recruiting trip to Lewis & Clark, outside hitter Jaycie Roberts (groin) and libero Makenzie Tucker, who was benched after missing the Spanish Springs match for personal reasons.
It’s a good thing Maddie Jergesen was around, though. The senior middle blocker hit a phenomenal 93 percent (13 kills) and added two blocks plus a dig against the Hawks. Allie Kibbe also had a nice night with seven kills and two digs. Kylie Riske had six kills while setter Natalie Anderson had 20 assists, five kills, two blocks and a dig.
“Maddie had a great match,” Carson coach Robert Maw said. “She didn’t hit a single ball out. Allie was strong on the outside.”
Carson did struggle in the opening game, but dominated the last two.
The Senators, 4-0, visit North Valleys Tuesday at 6 p.m.
