Chang and Eng. The Siamese twins now give notice that they are about to return to the show business. They need to repair their dilapidated fortunes. It appears that they have made arrangements to appear in public in the north. Barnum is doubtless at the bottom of this speculation. At the beginning of the rebellion, the twins were strongly divided in sentiments toward the government, Eng being a fierce secessionist, while Change clung to the Union with great tenacity.

Not dead: The death of Mrs. Frisbie at Virginia City was published yesterday morning. We were told last evening that the lady was not dead, although not expected to live through the night. We hope that her reports will continue to improve in character and that recovery is possible ...

A slovenly suggestion. According to the an Eastern paper, the Farm and Home, a women spends too much time washing dishes and has no leisure hour to paint, play piano and dabble in the classics. Therefore, dish washing should be abolished. Everything should be left on the table. There is no reason why a person cannot eat off the same plate for a year as they have no one but themselves to eat after. This plan might work all right, if the cholera did not break out in the family during the second month of the experiment.

All sorts. A Philadelphia belle tried to kiss a hobo who stopped her horse. He objected because he had seen her kiss her poodle dog. Prof. Caine of Elko high school attempted to stop a runaway team and got his leg caught in the front wheels of a buggy ... the bone was broken above the ankle. A $125,000 worth of turquoise has been produced from the Cross Springs district, 25 miles northwest of Tonopah.

70 Years Ago

Accident. Wiley Post and Will Rogers were killed in a plane crash 15 miles south of Point Barrow as Post was taking off from a native village. Will Rogers was a world known cowboy humorist. Wiley Post made his career as a flyer.

Reds Plan Manned Satellite. Soviet Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov said that Russia plans to place a permanent manned satellite around the earth and try crew exchanges before landing a man on the moon. The United States hopes to shoot its Apollo space ship to the moon before 1970 ...

20 Years Ago

Drug-sniffing dogs. The Carson City School District and Sheriff’s Office will be using these dogs, and they will make periodic walkthroughs of the middle and high schools.
