The average pump prices for gasoline in Nevada fell nearly six cents in the past week, according to the latest survey of 1,130 retail outlets across the state.

The price dropped 5.7 cents a gallon, reaching $2.94 in the survey concluded Sunday, GasBuddy.com said Monday. Nationally, the price-monitoring website said, the price remained stagnant at $2.29 a gallon

“Retail gasoline prices should be expected to continue a slow but steady descent consistent with what typically occurs when cheaper ‘winter blend’ gasoline becomes more available as we near the beginning of the fourth quarter,” said Gregg Lasoski, a petroleum analyst with GasBuddy.

In Carson City on Monday, prices surveyed at 25 outlets ranged from a low of $2.43 a gallon to a high of $2.81. As often is the case, that means the state capital community’s price mix ranged from a low that’s somewhat above the national price average and a high that’s somewhat below the statewide average.
