Virginia City’s annual zombie-themed obstacle run is returning Oct. 10 with Redrun III: A Zombie Manifestival.
New this year, Redrun is offering two course options — a 3.33 mile and a more challenging 6.66 mile course. Both traverse the Virginia City terrain and include a number of themed dead zones in which zombies hide and aim to capture the runners’ flags.
Runners, zombies and living dead registrants encounter various historic and spooky landmarks throughout the course, including the V&T Train Graveyard, Virginia City’s China Town and the Yellow Jacket Mine. Full course descriptions and the historical landmarks they pass through can be found at the event’s website, RedrunVC.com.
Participants can join as a living runner, a living dead, or zombie, or as a living insane. Living runners travel the race course in its entirety, dodging living dead and living insane. Living dead and living insane, available for pre-registration only, are assigned to zones with the goal of capturing flags of the living runners. Living dead and living insane registration includes zombie makeup by Body Paint Factory of Reno. Upgraded makeup options are available.
Following the race, the Zombie Manifestival takes place in the heart of Virginia City and includes live music by The Wiz Kid, the Redrun Saloon Crawl, Redrun merchandise and the Coors Light Graveyard with fresh libations. Access to the Zombie Manifestival is included for Redrun participants. The Redrun Saloon Crawl is $20 and includes a limited edition cup, a free beer, specialty drink samples and discounted full drink orders at all participating Virginia City saloons.
Registration is open through Oct. 9 at RedrunVC.com. Individual registration for the 3.33 mile course is $50, while the 6.66 mile course is $65. Living dead and living insane registration is $40. Day of registration is available at the event starting at 10 a.m. for runners only.
