Sherrada James Kizer Fielder, died on March 30, 2016, at Carson Tahoe Regional Hospital. She was appointed to the Director of the Nevada Indian Commission, by Gov. Kenny Guinn and served in that capacity from 2000 until 2005. Prior to that, she served as the Secretary/Treasurer to the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California from 1990 to 1993. Also included among her accomplishments is that she served as Miss Washoe Tribe while she was a senior in high school.
Sherrada was a native Nevadan and graduated from Carson High School in 1977 and took college classes at UNR. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 1996 from Northern Sierra Bible Institute. She leaves behind a husband, Duane Fielder of Carson City; daughter, Jolie Kizer, of Gardnerville; step father Alvin James of Wadsworth; sister, Jody James of Carson City; brothers Terry James of Wadsworth and Marshall Jack of California. She was preceded in death by her mother, Laurie James.
Services will be held at the Stewart Community Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 5, 11:00 a.m., with viewing at 10:00. Walton’s Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is handling the funeral arrangements.
