New members join advisory board

City National Bank named Butch Anderson of Eide Bailly LLP, Alan Rabkin of Holland Hart LLP, Craig Wesner of Lumos & Associates, Craig King of Chase International, and Travis Means of HomeCrafters as the newest members of its nine-member advisory board in Northern Nevada.

Butch Anderson has more than 30 years of public accounting experience. He was the CEO and president of Muckel Anderson CPAs. Anderson is a member of the American Institute and Nevada Society of CPAs, and the Financial Planning Association. He holds the designations and licensures of a CPA and CFP for Nevada and California.

Alan Rabkin has nearly 38 years of experience practicing law. He served as general counsel for Heritage Bank of Nevada and Heritage Bancorp. He also worked for Jones Vargas, BNP Paribas/Bank of the West, SierraWest Bank and others. He served as executive director and general counsel for the Nevada Judicial Conduct Commission, and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney with the United States Attorney’s Office in Arizona.

Craig Wesner is CEO of Lumos & Associates. He spent 12 years in public service with the state and federal government. He retired from the Air Force in 2010 as a Lieutenant Colonel and served as past president of the American Society of Engineers of the Truckee Meadows branch and the Nevada Section, and past president of the American Public Works Association.

Craig King joined Chase International as chief operating officer in 2006. King served as chief operating officer for Prudential California Realty/Cosner Group. He’s a board member of the Community Foundation of Western Nevada, former Treasurer of the Rock Art of Nevada Foundation and President of the Board for Hela Bima World. He’s a past national advisory board member for national web media company, Trulia.

Travis Means is a Reno native with more than 25 years of construction experience who co-founded and co-owns HomeCrafters and M2 Construction. He’s past president and current member of the Builders Association of Northern Nevada and Prospectors Club.

Jim Kidd joins Clear Creek Tahoe

Jim Kidd is joining Clear Creek Tahoe as general manager and director of golf. He’s charged with operational oversight of all aspects of the club, from membership and wellness to all the other facets of the Clear Creek experience.

The Coore & Crenshaw private golf club and emerging community is on the saddle just off Lake Tahoe’s eastern shore. Kidd has fostered his career at Coore & Crenshaw courses, starting in 1995 at Sand Hills, where he oversaw the opening of the club as its director of golf, before moving on to Friar’s Head on Long Island, N.Y.

Clear Creek’s new season opens May 1. It’s breaking ground this summer on a clubhouse and other amenities.

Minden’s Coldwell Banker, Century 21 merge

Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate merged with Century 21 Clark Properties office in Minden. Century 21 Clark Properties and its owners, Patty Clark and Shele Pandl, merged all operations into the Coldwell Banker Select Real Estate Company.

The merger adds 28 realtors who specialize in residential, horse, ranch, land and commercial property sales out of the Minden office. Century 21 Clark Properties has more than 33 years of real estate experience in Douglas County. The merged offices will operate in the Real Estate Mall located at 1674 Highway 395 in Minden.

Free small business seminars planned

SCORE Reno Chapter 415 is offering two free classes geared for anyone who’s thinking about starting a new business or anyone who has been in business for less than a year.

The first class about social media for small businesses is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 23. Topics include: Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, how to create an effective banner and profile and blogging.

Start-up Basics is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. April 23. The class will cover success factors, personal goals, protecting ideas, legal structures, marketing, financial planning, business plans and funding.

Carson FFA Chapter receives grant

Tractor Supply Company, in partnership with the National FFA Foundation, selected the Carson City Capitol FFA chapter to receive grant funding as a part of the store’s “Grants for Growing” program.

The chapter’s awarded grant can be used in a number of ways to benefit the community, including buying vegetation, trees, seed, chickens, feed, mulch or tools to help start or expand an FFA project that will continue for years to come.

In addition to funds donated by Tractor Supply, an in-store event was held Feb. 1928, when Tractor Supply shoppers donated $1 at checkout in support of the program. All in-store event funds raised at Nevada locations remained within the state.
