RENO — Carson scored four times in the sixth inning of the second game to register a 10-8 win over North Valleys and a split in their Division I doubleheader Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers took the opener, 10-4.
In the nightcap, Carson’s twin four-run innings wiped out a 7-2 deficit.
In the sixth, Gabbi Winder, Kassidy Cooley and Camiell Simpson singled. After an error allowed Faith Bigelow to reach base, Elise Brady doubled. After Tezia Boice was retired, Lauren Lemburg singled home a run to conclude the outburst.
In the seventh, Nicole Brown led off with a homer, tying the game at 7. Winder, Cooley and Brady came up with hits in the big inning. North Valleys managed just one hit in the seventh.
Winder had three hits and an RBI, Brady added two hits and three RBI and Cooley had two hits as did Bailey Allen and Lemburg.
North Valleys built a 5-0 lead in the opening game, and the Panthers were in control from the outset.
Allen went 3-for-3 with a single and two doubles, and Winder, Cooley and Brown all had two hits.
“It was nice to get one,” said coach Shane Quilling, whose team played without Jailene Salciedo (finger injury). “It was nice to see the girls come back after that first game. We needed one.”
Carson visits Damonte Ranch Tuesday at 3:45.
Dayton swept by Lowry
WINNEMUCCA — Lowry batted 10 times in Saturday’s doubleheader and scored runs in nine of those innings en route to 13-3 and 22-2 wins over Dayton.
Elizabeth Vincent went 3-for-3 to lead Dayton in the opener, while McKayla Celedon and Sydney Anderson added two hits apiece.
In the second game, Celedon went 3-for-3 while Briana Hill and Aleea McGill-Howe had a hit each.

CSI tames Wildcats, 10-1
After staging rallies in the first three games of the series, the Wildcats lost to the 13th-ranked Golden Eagles, 10-1, at Pete Livermore Sports Complex in Carson City.
Sarah Phillips and Katie Basinger homered to support the three-hit pitching of CheyAnne Dahl.
“We didn’t have the same intensity that we had yesterday and we were struggling to make adjustments at the plate, chasing a lot of riseballs out of the zone,” said WNC coach Leah Wentworth. “Dahl gave us a different look today.
“What a difference a day makes. We didn’t have the same components that were there yesterday.”
WNC’s SWAC record dropped to 8-16 and the Wildcats are 13-22 overall. CSI is 17-7 and 26-13.
Bailey Henderson broke up Dahl’s no-hitter with a base hit to left to start the Wildcat fourth inning.

Wildcats split day, series
TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Jordan Ragan is fast becoming Western Nevada College baseball team’s momentum changer.
After dropping two straight games against College of Southern Idaho at Skip Walker Field, the freshman left-hander righted the Wildcats with a five-hitter over seven innings in a 10-2 Scenic West Athletic Conference victory. CSI won Saturday’s opening game, 6-4, behind a six-run first inning.
Ragan (4-1) followed his three-hit shutout of first-place College of Southern Nevada by surrendering just one run to the Golden Eagles. He struck out two and walked one. Relievers Jordy Van den Heuvel and Kyle Thompson split the final two innings of work, completing a six-hitter.
Sophomore catcher Tim Lichty paced WNC’s 16-hit attack with a 3-for-5 performance, as well as knocking in three runs and scoring twice.
WNC stayed in second place in the SWAC with a 16-8 record. The Wildcats are 26-14 overall.
Doubles from Lichty, Chad Bell and Eric Flores fueled a four-run Wildcat third inning. WNC broke up the scoreless tie as Bell and Lichty hammered back-to-back doubles. After Lewis walked, both Wildcat baserunners moved up a base on a balk by Alex Perron. Lichty scored the second run of the inning on an Abe Yagi groundout. Flores’ double knocked in Lewis as WNC extended its lead to 3-0. Sam Salyers drove in the fourth run of the inning with a bunt single.
The Golden Eagles recorded their first hit off Ragan in the third when Cory Schmidt led off with a double. But after Schmidt took third base on a wild pitch, Ragan kept CSI scoreless when Kody Garvin lined out to Lewis in right, then WNC successfully appealed Schmidt left third base early while attempting to score on the out.
In the opener, the Golden Eagles didn’t allow WNC starting pitcher Jordan Dreibelbis to establish a rhythm in the first frame, erupting for six runs. Cole Walters doubled, Mason Hayes stroked an RBI single and Blake Sanchez slammed a two-run homer to left. The scoring didn’t end there as Trevor Lippard ripped an RBI triple to right. Jake Boyd’s safety squeeze bunt brought home Lippard and Schmidt’s run-scoring base hit capped the fruitful first.
D.J. Peters was 3 for 4 and scored twice. Daniel Nist and Bell were the only other Wildcats who provided a hit.
Dreibelbis gave up seven hits and six earned runs. The sophomore right-hander struck out four and walked two.
The Wildcats don’t have to worry about traveling for the remainder of the regular season. WNC will play its final four SWAC series at John L. Harvey Field, where it’s 9-3 overall and 4-0 in conference games. The Wildcats begin their 16-game home stand by entertaining Salt Lake in a four-game series that starts on Friday.
TRACK
Pradere enjoys big day
ROCKLIN, Calif. — Abigail Pradere continued her dominating freshman season with wins in the 800 and 1600 at the Thunder Invitational at Rocklin High School.
Pradere won the 1600 in 5:16.62, three-plus seconds ahead of Reno’s Kyra Hunsberger. In the 800, Pradere outleaned Roseville’s Madison Meade (2:22.65-2:22.66).
Athena Favero was fourth overall in the 100 hurdles, clocking a 17.16.
Ian Van Rensselaer was 13th in the 1600 (4:36.59)
Carson was missing several competitors, including Asa Carter and Ian Schulz, because of the prom.
Coach Robert Maw said Carter, Greg Wallace, Schulz and Pradere would be at next weekend’s prestigious Mt. Sac Invitational.
Dayton boys triumph
DAYTON — Led by J.J. Ply, Brady Heusser and Zach Hawley, the Dayton boys won the Lyon County championship Friday at Dayton High School.
Ply won four events (110 and 300 hurdles, pole vault (12-6) and high jump, 6-0), while Hawley won the shot (56-120 1/4) and discus (155-4). Heusser won the 800 in 2:11.79 and the 1600 (4:57.50).
The Dayton girls were second to Fernley.
Zara Landis won the 1600 (6:02.29) and the 800 (2:39.06). Grace Wells won the 400 (63.43) and was third in the high jump (4-6), and Rebecca Mason won the high jump (4-8).
SWIMMING
CHS boys, girls split
Carson split in its double dual against Bishop Manogue and Damonte Ranch at the Carson Aquatic Facility.
The CHS boys beat Damonte 142-62 and lost to Manogue 147-114. The girls beat Damonte 211-47 and lost to Manogue, 163-119.
Dagen Kipling won the 200 free (1:52.92) and 200 IM (2:07.17), and Reece Canfield won the 100 free (53.35) and was second overall in the 100 fly (57.01). Alex Gutierrez was second overall in the 100 back (1:00.88).
Kalysta Branco won the 100 back (1:10.48) and was third overall in the 50 free (29.92). Nicle Van Geel was second overall in the 100 fly (1:07.05) and third overall in the 200 IM (2:24.57). Morgan Nelson was second overall in the 100 free (1:01.39) and third overall in the 100 back (1:13.12).
JV BASEBALL
Miners pound Carson
Bishop Manogue broke open a close game with nine seventh-inning runs to beat Carson, 14-4, Saturday afternoon.
Joe Tonino and Colby Zemp led the offense with two hits apiece. Five CHS errors led to 10 unearned runs.
