Climate change narrative is a fairy tale

This is in regards to the opinion letters written by Mr. Dunn and Mr. Macquarie concerning global warming. Their main argument is that CO2 levels in the atmosphere have greatly increased because of humans using fossil fuels, which are causing anthropogenic global warming. I can’t properly address this issue in 250 words, but if given the space I will destroy both these columns using real science.

The term we need to be concerned about is “airborne fraction,” which measures the correlation between CO2 levels and how much CO2 we put in the atmosphere.

IPCC 2007 report on Airborne Fraction in 2007: “There is yet no statistically significant trend in the CO2 growth rate since 1958 ... This ‘airborne fraction’ has shown little variation over this period.” (IPCCAR4)

Fact is that CO2 typically lags temperature by about 800 years. We know CO2 levels in the atmosphere have been as high as 4,400 ppm and historically speaking we are currently in a CO2 famine.

Over the last 4,500 years we have had 75 major temperature swings. There is climate change and it is changing all the time. If you are really concerned about CO2 levels, plant a tree and stop believing in a fairy tale that is destroying thousands of American families.

Fireworks show lives up to RSVP’s mission

There are a lot of kids across our whole country who look forward to seeing the fireworks on the Fourth of July, some of them may not have many things to look forward to for lack of money.

Have you ever seen the big eyes and the “oohs” and “aahs” of the children when the fireworks start? People gather and there is usually a lot of camaraderie among the adults and children alike while they await the beginning of the show.

Laughter and enjoyment are essential for a happy life, and I for one want to thank RSVP for putting on the show every year for Carson City and surrounding areas and giving those people a bit of enjoyment. I believe this is part of the mission of RSVP for the people as well as all the other things they do for us.
