The Nevada Appeal’s Silver Dollars & Wooden Nickels feature recognizes achievements from the capital region and, when warranted, points out other acts that missed the mark.
SILVER DOLLAR: To Dick Campagni Carson City Toyota for making a $5,000 donation to Retired Seniors Volunteer Program to help RSVP in its effort to continue providing the annual fireworks show on Independence Day, July 4. RSVP has been putting on the fireworks show for nearly a quarter of a century, but the non-profit organization still needs more financial help if the fireworks show is going to continue this year — and in future years. But the Campagni donation is a good start. Donations can be sent to Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 6, Carson City 89706 or dropped off at Dick Campagni Carson City Toyota. For more information, contact Susan Haas, 775-687-4680, extension 2 or Anita Moreno, 775-687-4680, extension 7 or amoreno@nvrsvp.com.
SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson High’s Brandon Basa for winning the 113-pound title at the Reno Worlds wrestling event and to CHS teammate Sheldon Miller for placing fifth at the event. Both represented the Carson Bulldogs.
SILVER DOLLAR: To Carson High students Emily Mata and Chris Smith for being named King and Queen at the Friendship Ball.
