Three local organizations are teaming up to send the Carson City Honor Guard to Washington D.C. for the National Law Enforcement Memorial.
The Carson City Deputy Sheriff’s Association, Carson City Sheriff Supervisors Association and the Fraternal Order of Police Association are hosting a joint fundraiser to raise money to help cover travel and lodging costs to send the Honor Guard to Washington to honor Deputy Carl Howell as his name is added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial wall. Deputy Howell was killed in the line of duty last August when he was shot while responding to a domestic dispute.
The three organizations will be serving burgers and hot dogs at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar May 5. The fundraiser will follow the Annual Nevada Law Enforcement Officer Memorial ceremony held that day at noon on the Capitol Grounds. All the proceeds will go to the trip expenses. The organizations also want to send the deputies who were on scene the night Howell died to Washington with the Honor Guard.
If you can’t attend and would like to help, donations can be dropped by the Sheriff’s Office at 911 E. Musser Street Att: Don Gibson or Jim Primka. Checks can be written to CCDSA or CCSSA “Howell DC Memorial.”
