Information wanted: Frank Mooney, a compositor in the Alta California office, San Francisco, wants to know the whereabouts of Patrick Mooney, his brother, also a printer. He is supposed to be a bugler in one of the Calvary companies of the Nevada Volunteers at Salt Lake.

Pavement of sidewalks, curbs and gutters in two blocks of North Curry Street was completed this week as energetic and civic-minded citizens took it upon themselves to create a new “improvement” district. A local contractor was hired and the expense for permanent street and walk improvements was borne entirely by individual property owners.

Bill Brooks was installed president of the Carson Valley 20-30 Club at a J.T. Bar dinner meeting, with ladies and guests attending. Mike Schaugnessy of Carson City, past district governor, was the installing officer.

William J. Schroeder, a “tough old nut” who became the longest-living recipient of a permanent artificial heart, died after suffering multiple strokes. He was 54.
