Five arrested in Carson City in major meth bust

Five Carson City residents were arrested Thursday afternoon in relation to a decade long drug trafficking organization.

Omar Herrera, 21; Noe Galvan-Olmos, 54; Celina Ramirez-Diaz, 34; Sergio Herrera, 36; and Javier Herrera, 34, were arrested near the 1400 block of Monte Rosa Drive after Tri-Net obtained several search and arrest warrants for the occupants inside the residence. The warrants came from a three month investigation from Tri-Net, however Sgt. Dan Johnson said they’ve been tracking this Mexican drug trafficking ring for close to ten years.

“This bust will have a significant impact on the meth trade in Carson City,” Johnson said.

This drug ring is suspected of smuggling nearly 200 pounds of methamphetamine into Carson City for the last decade, though Johnson said that number is only a conservative estimate and could be higher. When the suspects’ residence was searched Thursday, authorities found 3.72 pounds of meth and several rifles in the building.

This investigation was also in collaboration with the Bakersfield DEA, Bakersfield Police Department, Nevada Department of Investigation, Tri-Net and Carson City and Douglas County Special Enforcement Teams. A sixth suspect was also arrested in Bakersfield Thursday, Hugo Diaz-Lizarraga, 34, who’s suspected to be the ring leader of the operation.

Johnson said this bust was a big one for Carson City, as they took out the ring leader, runners, middlemen and storage men for the drug ring.

“Carson City will see a huge benefit,” Johnson said. “This will probably drive up the price of meth because the supply will be cut, which is a good thing.”

Diaz-Lizarraga was arrested on suspicion of three counts of felony trafficking in a controlled substance, three counts of felony conspiracy and felony fugitive from justice; Galvan-Olmos was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony trafficking in a controlled substance level three, felony conspiracy, felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia; Javier Herrera was arrested on suspicion of felony trafficking in a controlled substance, felony conspiracy, felony sales of a controlled substance and felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell; Ramirez-Diaz and Sergio Herrera were arrested on suspicion of felony conspiracy and felony maintaining a drug house; Omar Herrera was arrested on suspicion of aggravated reentry into the United States.
