The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rollover crash that killed two people early Monday morning.
Deputies and medics responded to an off road vehicle crash in Goni Canyon around 4:45 a.m. Monday.
One passenger survived the accident and was able to hike out of the canyon where he was picked up by a passerby and taken to her residence to report the accident. The survivor reported that the vehicle had drove off a cliff and rolled several hundred yards down a steep canyon embankment. He reported originally that one person was dead at the scene but did not know the location of the third victim.
Emergency personnel located the vehicle one and a half miles up Goni Canyon.
One deceased male was located at the vehicle. After a search of the area, a second deceased male was located 100 yards away up a steep embankment. The SUV-style vehicle was located at the bottom of the canyon.
The male victim who survived the accident was treated for minor injuries by the Carson City Fire Department medics but decline transportation to the hospital.
The two deceased males have been identified, however are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The Two victims were identified as one adult male and one 16-year-old juvenile male.
The accident is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and being assisted by the accident reconstruction team from the Nevada Highway Patrol.
