Returned: Mr. Mighels, the editor of the Appeal, returned yesterday, with his bride. He received a hearty welcome from his friends, and was serenaded by the Euterpe Brass Band.

The Adams men are circulating all sorts of stories relative to Theodore Winters’ Chinese record. Two sample canards were in circulation yesterday. One was that Winters had 25 persons of Chinese descent in his hay fields, and antlers that he had 12 in his cheese and butter establishment. No man ought to be deceived by these lies circulated for political effect.

100 years ago

A bill has been passed through the Senate by Sen. Key Pittman of Nevada for the relief of the people of Wadsworth and vicinity. The bill conveys title to the county commissioners of Washoe County for land now occupied by the Wadsworth school.

70 years ago

Bud Miller, president of the Carson City Ski Club, will be guest speaker tonight as the Melody Lane goes on the air at 9:45 on KOH. Miller will “plug” Carson City in general during the 15-minute program emanating from the South Carson Street night spot.

The Pioneer 7 spacecraft has successfully pointed its main antenna at Earth and is transmitting excellent data on interplanetary space as it sweeps outward in its long, looping orbit around the sun.

Responding to a grievance filed by sheriff’s dispatchers in April, the Board of Supervisors Thursday authorized the hiring of two additional dispatchers to staff the emergency 911 dispatch center.
