The team who put together the city’s first TEDx event in April has been awarded a second license for an event to be held Oct. 13, 2017.
The theme for 2017 is The Agora, said Gina Lopez Hill, executive director, the Brewery Arts Center, the event organizer.
“The theme of the Agora was chosen because in ancient Athens, the Agora was the heart of the city — where ordinary citizens bought and sold goods, politics were discussed and ideas were passed among great minds like Aristotle and Plato,” said Hill. “Our first TEDxCarsonCity was so well received we knew we had to do it again. Our speaker videos from this year’s event have had a worldwide reach and seeing how many people actually viewed the live broadcast combined with our live tickets selling out within hours was quite humbling. It surpassed all of our expectations.”
The day-long event will consist of a series of speakers and performers who each take the stage for no more than 15 to 20 minutes to explore the idea of the chosen theme.
TEDxCarsonCity will take place at the Brewery Arts Center and live streamed online at the event website, www.TEDxCarsonCity.com.
