Firehouse Subs donation allows for new ambulance in Carson City

The Carson City Fire Department received a new ambulance thanks to Firehouse Subs.

The sandwich shop, located on Highway 50, donated $46,451 to the Carson City Fire Department through in-store fundraising efforts. The department was able to buy a new chassis for their rig, which was accumulating nearly 190,000 miles.

“This provides us a new apparatus to help us serve the community,” said Fire Chief Bob Schreihans.

Firehouse Subs representatives presented Schreihans and several members of the Fire Department with their check from the Firehouse Public Safety Foundation Thursday afternoon at the restaurant.

“It takes a special person to go out every day and keep the community safe,” said Jacquelyn Gubbins, senior manager of foundation programs. “This is just a small token of our appreciation to provide this lifesaving equipment.”

“We want to see the community flourish and thrive and be great life saving equipment to help save some lives.”

Along with the new rig, Firehouse Subs also donated a new AED to the Sheriff’s Office to also help save lives.

For many at the ceremony, the new equipment is for the whole community, so that the first responders can better do their jobs.

“We wanted to thank you for the support for the Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office,” said Board of Supervisors member Karen Abowd. “They are our first responders and we depend on them... so, thank you on behalf of Carson City.”
