GARDNERVILLE — East Fork Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 3726 collected $3,436 from its members, including an individual donation of $1,000, to purchase 204 new, warm winter coats as part of the Operation Warm Coats for Kids Foundation.
Coats will be distributed to school district officials Tuesday, Dec. 20.
The first drop-off is at C.C. Meneley Elementary School in Gardnerville at 9 a.m.
Brian Trute, East Fork Fire Protection District engineer and charity and donation chairman for the EFPF, said the coats are quality products union-made in the United States.
“What we like about Operation Warm is all the money we raised will stay in Douglas County,” Trute said. “The Douglas County School District identified children in need of warm coats and will get them to the kids before Christmas break.”
Operation Warm and the East Fork Professional Firefighters collect funds year-round. Donations are being accepted now for the 2017 coat fundraiser. Donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact Sky Dwinell at 775-790-3492.
