Willard (Willie) Thomas Banta

Willard (Willie) Thomas Banta passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at home with his family by his side. He was 74 years of age.

Willard was born to Lester Thomas Banta and Bertha Lilly (Reece) Banta. Willie was born in Bishop, CA on March 30, 1942. He was the youngest of eight children.

Willie married Connie Jean (Chandler) Banta on May 17, 1962 in Las Vegas, Nevada with his father as one of his witness’s. They were later married in the LDS Temple in Oakland, CA for time and eternity. They had five children; one daughter, Cherri Gallaway (Barry) predeceased, and four sons: Ronnie; Jeff; Darrell; and Steven (Bridget); he is also survived by his brothers Roger and George; Willie has 13 grandchildren;4 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

We will miss him and love him forever.

Willie worked hard all his life, providing for his family. He was a kind and thoughtful man to all. He was employed by Boyle Bros. Drilling, Standard Slag Mining, Don Tibbals, Lyon County Schools , the State of Nevada and Anaconda Mine.

Willard enjoyed camping, hunting and being with his family.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and one brother and son, Ronnie.Willie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

His services will be held Friday, Dec. 30 at 10 AM at the LDS Church 600 N Oregon St. Yerington, NV.
