Dec. 6, 1930 - Jan. 25, 2016

Mrs. Senaida “Nida” Sanchez died peacefully in the hospital on January 25th, 2016 in Carson City, NV at the age of 85. Nida was born on December 6, 1930 in Taos, New Mexico. She met her husband Jesus Sanchez in Bayard, New Mexico and they later moved to Bishop, California where they lived for about twenty years and raised their young family. Nida lived in Carson City from 1975 until the time of her passing. Before retirement, Nida worked for Carson Tahoe Hospital, preparing meals with care for patients and their families. Earlier in her career, she also worked in the kitchen of the historic Stewart Indian School. But Nida’s greatest love was family, and she loved nothing more than caring for, playing with and nourishing the children in her life. Her home was always buzzing with sounds of laughter and joy and filled with the delicious aromas of homemade tortillas and her other delightful fare. Two sons, Daniel J. Sanchez of Yukon, Oklahoma and Orlando Sanchez of Carson City, Nevada, survive her. She is also survived by her daughter Rosalie Beeby of Rocklin, California and her daughter-in-law, Susie Sanchez, who she lived with for most of her life in Carson City and who loved and cared for Nida when her health began to fail. Her husband Jesus, her sister Louise, her brother Steven and her eldest son Mariano, as well as her parents Joseph Vargas and Cora Boutwell, precede her in death. In addition to her four children, Nida had 12 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, who all loved her unconditionally, just as she loved them, and who will all miss her dearly. Nida was buried next to her late husband in Bishop, CA on Friday January 29, 2016. Services were held on Saturday January 30th at St. Theresa de Avila Catholic Church in Carson City.
