Catherine M. Martinez passed away peacefully at her home on Feb. 8, 2016 at the age of 71. Catherine was born July 14, 1944 in Spokane, WA to Peter and Kathleen Morbello. She graduated from Redwood High School, in Larkspur, CA; attained an AA degree from the College of Marin; completed the Attorney Assistant Certificate Program from Sonoma State University. Catherine retired from the State of Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation, as an Employment Security Specialist in 2001. Catherine loved the Carson City and Dayton areas and all the wonderful friends she made here. Although not a friend of of Bill W., she was supportive of the program(s) and those involved, lending support and taking time to help others. She was an avid quilter, starting years ago making small quilts and blankets for children in need. She progressed to large quilts, many used for fund-raisers for Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church - to help many others with their quilting needs, never asking for anything in exchange other than the joy she brought to them. Catherine loved Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church and the members of it. She was a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King for many years. Catherine loved to travel with many trips through the west and southwest, marveling in the beauty and history of it all. She also enjoy our many trips on cruises from Alaska, to the Panama Canal, to southern Europe with transatlantic trip, to our last being New Zealand and Australia. She was an avid reader, loving history and those who made it. Catherine is survived by: her loving husband Richard; sons Daniel Schaffer, Matthew Morbello, step-son Shawn Martinez; daughter-in-laws Julie and Deanna; grand-children; Clio, Dario and step grandchildren Ben and Alex. Catherine touched so many throughout her life, caring and loving all. There will be a memorial service for Catherine, Feb. 20, 2016 at 11 a.m., at Saint Peter’s episcopal Church, 314 Division Street, Carson City, Nevada - corner of Division and Telegraph.
