Inmate in Carson City’s Northern Nevada Correctional Center may have killed himself

State officials say an inmate who was found dead in his cell at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City may have killed himself.

The Nevada Department of Corrections said 27-year-old John Morse was found hanging from a bathroom area at the prison early Saturday.

The state said first responders tried to render aid but Morse died less than an hour later.

An autopsy is being scheduled.

Morse had served less than a month of his five- to 20 year-sentence after being convicted in Washoe County last month on kidnapping, battery by strangulation and battery by prisoner charges.
