Kurt Weissheimer, Jr., 83, of Minden, Nevada died on February 15, 2016 at Renown Hospital in Reno after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife Marion. He is survived by two sons of an earlier marriage, Kim Herlan of Lowman New York and Eric Herlan of Kittery Maine, as well as by four grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mr. Weissheimer was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on October 23, 1932, the only child of Kurt and Jeannette Weissheimer. He grew up in Rye New York and graduated in 1950 from Rye High School. Mr. Weissheimer graduated from Northwestern University in 1954 and from Cornell Law School in 1957. Following law school, Mr. Weissheimer practiced law for a short time in Buffalo, New York. After that, he worked in Washington D.C. for the federal Office of Housing and Urban Development. From there he moved to a position with Amtrak, and worked the rest of his legal career with that railroad company. He became the managing director for the Chicago Union Station Company, which oversaw the renovation of Chicago’s Union Station in the early 1990’s. Mr. Weissheimer and his wife Marion retired to Minden Nevada in 1995. Marion passed on February 4th, 2015 and was greatly missed by her devoted husband.
