Sharyn Ann Houston Kruse, 70, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack in her Carson City home on November 25, 2015. Sharyn was born on May 5, 1945, in Modesto, California, and moved to Carson City as a young girl. She graduated from Carson City High School in 1963, where she was a very good student and active in numerous school activities, including various singing groups, cheerleading, and drill team. Sharyn’s parents, Turner and Melba Houston, managed the local variety store, Sprouse Reitz, for many years, during which time Turner served as mayor of Carson City. Sharyn grew up with a very strong work ethic, and upon graduation from high school, she was hired as a bookkeeper at Carson Furniture. She later spent the majority of her career working for the Department of Taxation, until her retirement in May of 2006. Sharyn earned many honors while working for the Department of Taxation, most notable being Employee of the Year. She also enjoyed serving as an Avon representative, providing products to her many loyal customers for 25 years. Sharyn married Bill Bernardini of Carson City in June 1964, and their son Stacey Tristan was born in 1966. Sharyn and Bill were later divorced, and she subsequently married Tom Kruse of Washoe Valley where they had a son, Casey T., who was born in 1978. Sharyn is survived by her sons, Stacey Kruse (Reno) and Casey Kruse (Carson City), her brother Kirk Houston and his wife, Jane (Auburn, California); a granddaughter, Allyson Ann Kruse, 17 (Reno); and two nieces/nephews - Janae Marlee Houston, 16 and Kyle David Houston, 13.
