Sep. 22, 1941 - Feb. 15, 2016
Billy D. Britt, 74, devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, has lost a long battle with COPD. He was surrounded by the love of his life, Ayako, and his loving children, Dawn and Billy, when he passed at his home on February 15, 2016. Bill was born to Robert “Bully” and Hester Britt in Arkansas but grew up in Wenatchee, WA with his 10 brothers and sisters. He was a member of Jack Bedient and the Chessmen, a popular rock group who had a loyal following in the early 1960’s in Nevada, California, Washington and Hawaii. He settled down in Carson City to raise and support his family and worked at Copeland Lumber for many years and eventually fulfilled his dream of starting his own business, Doors Plus. His hobbies included restoring classic hot rods, playing guitar, fishing, and attending the many sporting and musical events of his five beloved grandchildren. He was a hard working and fun loving man. His sense of humor was over the top. He kept us laughing to the end. He is survived by his bride of 50 years, Ayako; daughter, Dawn (Rick) Graver of Reno and son Billy (Ann) Britt of Carson City; brothers Larry (Phyllis) Britt of Wenatchee, WA, Jack (Mary) Britt of Lake Tapps, WA, and Joe (Banjo) Britt of Federal Way, WA; grandchildren Nic, Anthony and James Graver and Ashley and Trevor Britt, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. His family would like to thank the caregivers of St. Mary’s Hospice and Advanced Home Healthcare for their care and support. We also appreciate the kindness and support of the EMS responders of the Carson City Fire Department and the staff at Carson-Tahoe Hospital.
Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11 am at Plaza Hotel Event Center at 211 E. 9th St, Carson City, NV. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to either St. Jude Hospital (stjude.org) or Shriner’s Hospitals for Children (shrinershospitals.org).
