A winter weather advisory has been issued for Western Nevada starting 7 a.m. Tuesday and lasting through the day.
According to the National Weather Service, periods of snow could spill over into Western Nevada affecting the morning commute west of Highway 395.
Snow accumulations are forecast to be 1-4 inches, with a chance for 2-5 inches in the foothills above 5,000 feet and south of Carson City. The Weather Service says there’s potential for the temperature to warm enough to limit accumulations for Carson City and Reno to less than an inch.
If it snows, motorists can expect winter road conditions in the mountains, especially over Spooner Summit and Kingsbury Grade.
