Snow. The snow lay at about a depth of 18 inches on the level. Sleighing will be excellent, and both young and old folks will enjoy some delightful rides. Notice: Our regular carrier got his feet frost-bitten and is unable to make his rounds and has employed a substitute. If he misses some of our regular subscribers, notice can be left at this office.

Poor farm. George Bath’s ranch was purchased for a poor farm for $2,000 and will save Ormsby County several thousand dollars a year. The Commissioners visited the Poor Farm in Reno and saw the plan at work. Washoe County has saved more than $500 a month. Under the new system those who receive county charity will be obliged to live at the Poor Farm and no longer receive aid quietly.

Tonopah holdup at the Bank Saloon. P. H. Sandlin, the bartender, and the roulette attendant were in the bar at the time the highwayman with a red handkerchief tied over his face came in the door with a revolver. Sandlin was sitting in the cardroom when the highwayman covered him with his gun and demanded the bankroll. Sandlin ducked behind the bar to get a revolver. After several shots the highwayman, having exhausted his ammunition, backed out into and fled down St. Patrick Street. Four arrests were made, but none of the suspects identified the robber (Miner).
