Editor’s note: Dan Bowler wrote this poem following the destruction of the old Citibank Building at Curry and Telegraph streets.
Broken Pieces
Scattered everywhere
Broken pieces of yesterday
Piled and stacked before being recycled
By God and Nature
One and the same
Broken pieces flush down the rivers and valleys
They fall to the depths of the oceans
Beaten and broken by light, wind, rain and fire ...
We are born to be broken into pieces of a life
We once knew
To become new
Again.
