Eugene Frederick McMullin died of natural causes at Brookdale Senior Living in Sparks, NV on January 4, 2016. Eugene Frederick McMullin was born on August 23, 1925 in San Francisco, California to Mabel Mau and Elmer Francis McMullin. He graduated from Burlingame High School, attended San Mateo College and held an A.S. degree in Law Enforcement from Western Nevada Community College. “Mac” retired after 27 years in the U.S. Navy in 1969. He rose from Seaman to Chief Warrant Officer and saw service in WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He joined Churchill County Sheriff’s Office in 1969 and served as a Peace Officer in Battle Mountain, a Corrections Officer in Carson City, and Sgt and Officer in Charge of the Lander County Sheriff’s Office in Austin. Since 1989, he served as the Training Officer in the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office. As well as being a past member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Fleet Reserve Association, he also served as a Volunteer Fireman in the Austin Fire Department. He was a Security Officer at the Riverside Hotel in Reno, was a manager of the Russ Jones Uniformed Security in Reno, and had his own Private Investigator Firm in Fallon, where he worked as an investigator for the Public Defender’s Office in Fallon. While living in Austin, NV he was editor of the Reese River Reveille. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Stevens McMullin, Son Michael McMullin, Father Elmer McMullin, mother Mable Mau Broman, and stepfather Edward Broman. He is survived by sons Robert Patrick, and Steven Daniel, daughters Kathleen McMullin Lewy, Maureen McMullin Clendenen, and Coleen McMullin Haworth, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.
