Gertrude L. McFadyen passed away in Carson City, Nevada on January 18, 2016 at the age of 95. She was a Carson City resident since 1993 after spending many years in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Born in Winlock, Washington, she was raised in Klamath Falls and married the love of her life, Orval McFadyen, in 1942. She served her country during WWII as an Army teletype operator. After the war, she had a long career as a bookkeeper in Klamath Falls. She and Orval moved to Carson City in 1993 to be close to family. Orval passed in 2009. Following retirement in 1982, Gertrude enjoyed traveling with family through much of the U.S. and Canada. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Carson City and an avid shopper. She is survived by her son Michael McFadyen and wife Teresa of Boise, Idaho and daughter Carol Veatch and husband Mike of Carson City; her four grandchildren David McFadyen and Andrea Gross in Boise, Idaho, Jonathan McFadyen in Bend, Oregon and Steven Veatch in Carson City and eight great grandchildren. A family service and internment will be held in Klamath Falls.
