In memory of former Carson and Virginia City boys basketball coach Tom Andreasen, who passed away recently, the NIAA is honoring the 1972 Virginia City Muckers and the 1975 Carson Senators, both state champions coached by Andreasen, on Feb. 25 at Lawlor Events Center.
The short ceremony will take place at halftime of one of the Division I state semifinal games, according to Donnie Nelson, assistant commissioner. Nelson is asking players from those teams RSVP with him via a phone call 775-453-1012 or e-mail donnien@niaa.com. At that time, Nelson will provide more details.
Andreasen was the director of the state basketball tournament for approximately 25 years.
