George Henry David Fabrizius, 78, of Carson City, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. George was born to Johann George and Katherine Margaret Fabrizius, in Wakeeney, Kansas April 4, 1938. George’s family moved to Denver, Colorado when he was in high school. After graduation from Denver’s East High School in 1956, George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California, and later at the Naval Ordnance Test Station at China Lake, California. After completing his military service in 1958, George moved to Sparks, Nevada and worked at the Coney Island Restaurant. He was hired by Sierra Pacific Power Company and later moved to Carson City where he worked as a computer programmer with the State of Nevada Employment Security Division. It was during that time that George met the love of his life, Jean. They married in April, 1969.After retirement, George pursued his passion for travel and, he and Jean began a journey that took them all over the United States. Eventually, they settled down to the “snow bird” life where they split time between Carson City and Yuma, Arizona for many years. At both locales they met many friends with whom they shared many good times. While in Carson City, George enjoyed his weekly Thursday get-togethers with his buddies. George was a 25-year member of the Carson City Lodge of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Herman (Leona), Argus, and Richard (Setsuko); and sister Lydia. In addition to his wife Jean, he is survived by brothers Arthur and Paul (Darlene); sisters Olga Walker, Hulda Dorsch, and Edna Homberg; step-son Blaine Fettic (Julia); step-grandchildren Mary, Brandi, and Joey; step-great grandchildren Aja, Layla, and Anthony; and numerous nieces and nephews.Walton’s Chapel of the Valley is handling arrangements and at George’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carson Tahoe Health Foundation, in support of local cancer patients in need.
