Enthusiasts who restore old cars are their own kind of virtuoso, said Loretta Marcin, president of the Karson Kruzers.
“I always compare car people to artists,” she said. “They have their own different styles and different colors. I just like seeing different versions and different variations.”
All artists and makes and models will be on display during a free car show this weekend.
The Karson Kruzers Show-n-Shine will run 9 a.m-4 p.m. Saturday at Johnny Rockets, 4600 Snyder Ave.
She said she’s hoping for 50 or more entries — which include all trucks, motorcycles and cars.
“You never know exactly what you’re going to get,” Marcin said. “Anyone can enter. The more the merrier.”
She said all kinds of cars are popular in this area for a variety of different reasons.
“Young kids like the Hondas and Nissans, then we still have the low-rider crowd,” she said.
She added owners are often driven by nostalgia.
“Station wagons are popular now,” she said. “They do it for the love of their memories and the love of the hobby.”
The show will feature a raffle and silent auction, including hotel stays in Carson City and Reno.
“They’ve always been really good about supporting us,” Marcin said.
Awards will also be given for the best vehicles.
Marcin said it will be family oriented and a good way to spend a summer day.
“You get to see all the cars up through the years and how the owners put their own style on it,” she said. “There’s a freedom in that. This is going to be a really laid back car show.”
