The Carson Tahoe Health Foundation is hosting the 6th annual HopeFest, a free outdoor concert headlined by The Waybacks.

All proceeds from food, drink and raffle ticket sales directly benefit local cancer patients undergoing lifesaving medical treatment, providing support for basic needs that go beyond the hospital walls.

HopeFest6 is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19 at the Carson Tahoe Cancer Center, 1535 Medical Parkway.

“In addition to facing a life-threatening cancer diagnosis, many patients are also faced with an overwhelming anxiety due to the unplanned expenses which come with such a devastating diagnosis,” said Kitty McKay, Foundation Director at Carson Tahoe Health. “The funds raised at HopeFest provide critical support of no-cost lodging (for rural cancer patients in need) and assistance with necessities such as gas cards to get to treatment, insurance co-pays and lifesaving medications.”

Nationally famed progressive soul grass band, The Waybacks, known for its energetically performed, high-spirited melodies and inspirational combination of influences, will be the headlining entertainment.

Additionally, the event raffle is sponsored by Dick Campagni’s car dealerships, which for the past nine years have donated the choice of a new car or $10,000 as the grand raffle prize.

Local dining favorites — Js’ Old Town Bistro and the Cracker Box — will be on site to keep the hunger at bay for concert goers. And drinks have generously been donated by Lagunitas and Southern Wine & Spirits. The generosity of these event sponsors allows for 100 percent of the proceeds to directly benefit local patients.

Guests interested in attending and supporting the cause can simply show up at the event and buy food, drinks, raffle tickets, and tribute flags.
