The Nevada Heath Centers has received a $15,000 grant to continue to support the Mammovan, a service that allows better access to mammography services for women in Nevada.
The grant from CVS Health is for non-profit organizations who provide access to health care for at-risk or underserved populations.
The NVHC is using the grant for the mobile center, which travels to geographically isolated areas or for women who don’t have health insurance, and provides free mammograms to those who either don’t have insurance or can’t afford it.
“We are thrilled to receive this community grant. Early detection is really the key in the fight against breast cancer and this grant will allow us to give even more women access to mammography which is such an important detection tool,” said Colleen Petrosky, Mammovan program manager.
The NVHC was selected for the grant after an application process.
The goal of the CVS Health Community Grants Program is to provide relief for both adults and children who lack medical insurance and help ensure they receive the proper medical care they need.
“As a pharmacy innovation company, we are committed to helping people on their path to better health. We are proud to support organizations that increase access to quality health care because we know their efforts are critical to delivering better community health,” said Eileen Howard Boone, senior vice president, Corporate Social Responsibility and Philanthropy, CVS Health. “We are pleased to support the work that Nevada Health Centers does in the community and we look forward to working with them to fulfill their program’s mission.”
