All summer long, Thursday nights have been known for the Silver Dollar Car Classic meet-ups with upward of 80 vehicles showing off their chrome and fuzzy dice at various venues.

Thursday’s cruise night kicks off a weekend of nostalgic car fun. Head to the Plaza Events Center at 5 p.m. for the annual Cruise Night Show and Shine, Music and Spirits and hold onto your bobby sox.

Friday night the good times roll at Max Casino with a street dance featuring Route 66. Everyone is welcome to jitterbug the night away in the front parking lot. The Silver Dollar Car Classic hosts another show and shine from to 10 p.m., but the fun doesn’t stop there.

The annual Silver Dollar Car Classic is the capital city’s all-out celebration of the American automobile. Saturday and Sunday, Mills Park in Carson City turns into a mecca of some of the finest hot rods ever made, with more than 400 restored, tricked-out and souped-up cars and trucks on display under the canopy of dozens of shade trees.

The event brings classic car lovers by the thousands to the capital city annually where enthusiasts and owners swap stories about how they maintained their vintage cars and what kind of work went into them. From engines to parts to old time rock ‘n roll and great food by dozens of vendors, the annual show provides anyone who loves cars a place to see some of the best in the West.

Saturday, start the day with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis. Registration runs until 11 a.m. if you’re interested in getting your vehicle in on the competition. From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. vendors, hot rods, and live music make Mills Park the place to be.

Sunday begins at 8 a.m. with more Kiwanis pancakes. Join the Silver Dollar Classic Poker Run from 8 a.m. to noon. Barbecue lunch for the public starts at 11 a.m. Find out who the Best in Show is at the Award Ceremony at 1 p.m.
