Methodist Church: There will be a lecture, the first of Pahranaget series by Rev. A. F. White to be delivered at the District Court Room. Proceeds from these lectures are applied toward building the Methodist Church. Single lectures can be had by paying 50 cents each.

Edison’s graphophone: He has produced machine that records anything spoken and will reproduce it. Simply turn a crank and the machine talks right out. It is capable of many uses and could be advantageously introduced into the journalistic circles of Carson. The carriers of the various papers could march down the street, in single file, turning out opinions, defamations, reformations, views and political endorsements as they passed. Whenever a public speaker came to town he could cock and prime the machine with views on public questions and send Clem Berry down Main street to deliver them.

Trolley: The county commissioners and city trustees granted a franchise for a streetcar line intended to cover a line built from Shaw’s Springs to the State Prison and Valley Park. They have exacted a bond for the faithful performance of the terms of the franchise to run for 20 years, work to begin inside of six months. Power will come from Ash Canyon.

State Children’s Home vacation: Sixty children from the home will have a two-day vacation. This has been made possible through the generosity of Victor and Joseph Saturno of Reno who set up a trust fund in the amount of $100,000. The interest is used for vacation purposes. Children will see the ocean, cable car, and zoo in San Francisco — some have never been out of Nevada.
