The Reno Phil Youth Orchestra just returned from a tour of New York City including a performance at Carnegie Hall. Orchestra members, including students from Carson City, participated in this trip thanks to countless hours in planning over the past year and a half, and it was made possible thanks to many generous donations from our local community. In addition to the performance at Carnegie Hall, where the orchestra received a standing ovation from the nearly full hall, members visited the 9/11 Memorial, Liberty Island, the Natural History Museum and several other New York City landmarks, according to a press release from the Reno Philharmonic Association.
“For many of our kids, this trip to New York was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Heather Gallagher, youth orchestra manager for the Reno Phil, said. “We are so proud to have been able to offer them this opportunity because it’s something that will stay with them forever.”
Congratulations to the students on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
