Wants a woman’s care. A gentleman came into our office yesterday and said he had a little child that he was anxious to leave in the care of some respectable family. He is about crossing the Plains, and has two other older children to take care of. He has been so unfortunate as to lose his wife, and says this little one needs the care of a woman. Won’t some of our good people take this little fellow and adopt him as their own? Application at the Appeal office will secure particulars.

Kitchen help. There is still no white kitchen help to be had in Carson. Numerous families are still employing the Chinese with the consent of the Executive Committee of the League. We believe that it is the duty of the Executive Committee to report in open meeting that while help is not to be had at any price. The key to the situation is this; white help is holding out for higher wages.

Mr. and Mrs. George D. Smith returned yesterday from a visit of two weeks spent at Camp Curry, Yosemite National Park. In an interview regarding the roads, Mr. Smith stated that the road from Sacramento to Riverton was a boulevard and from Riverton to Carson it was in splendid condition. The party left Sacramento at 6:30 a.m. yesterday morning, stopped at Strawberry for lunch and other points over an hour, making Carson City at 4:30 o’clock. In all they traveled 1,287 miles this trip without a mishap.

With four members of Carson City 20-30 Club No. 140 planning to attend, the district convention of Nevada 20-30 clubs will be held in Tonopah June 15 and 16, John Isabell, president of the local chapter and district governor, announced today.
