Carson City’s Krysta Palmer has advanced to the finals of the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials being held through next Sunday in Indianapolis.
On Saturday, Palmer, competing with 13-year-old phenom Tara Gilliland, placed fourth after the semifinals in the synchronized 10-meter platform diving. The finals will be held Wednesday.
Palmer and Gilliland finished with a 544.02 points behind Samantha Bromberg and Delany Schnell (560.64), Anna James and Katrina Young (576.00) and Jessica Parrato and Amy Cozad (617.28). Parrato and Cozad have a commanding lead to earn the one berth to the 2016 Summer Olympics in August in Rio De Janeiro.
Palmer has also qualified to compete in the individual 3-meter and 10-meter platform events at the trials.
