Nevada Humane Society’s Duck Race & Festival is returning for a seventh year with a goal to adopt 30,000 rubber ducks to benefit homeless pets.

Anyone is welcome to adopt a rubber duck, then spend a day in Wingfield Park in Reno to cheer on their duck as they race down the Truckee River.

Participants can adopt a Lonely Duck, a Quack Pack, or another ducky package starting at $5.

The grand prize is a 2016 Toyota Corolla donated by Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota.

Rubber ducks are available online at http://www.duckrace.com/reno, or at the Nevada Humane Society shelter in Carson City, 3770 Butti Way, and Reno, 2825 Longley Lane.

In addition, rubber ducks are available at a variety of area events, including farmer’s markets, Aces games and more.

The Duck Race & Festival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 21 includes live entertainment, clowns, carnival games, vendors and refreshments. Adoptable dogs and cats from Nevada Humane Society also will be on site.

The duck race will commence at 4 p.m. with prize winners announced shortly after the conclusion of the race. Winners do not need to be present.

This year’s sponsors include: Dick Campagni’s Carson City Toyota, KRNV News 4, FOX News, My 21 TV, KOH 780AM, K-Bull 98.1, The Vibe 95.5, Wild 102.9, Reno News & Review, Q&D Construction and the City of Reno, as well as the many Duck Partners and volunteers.

The Duck Race & Festival is free and open to the public, but attendees are asked to not bring their pets to the event. City of Reno park regulations do not allow dogs at special events unless they are service dogs.
