The penitentiary: Much the busiest place in this immediate vicinity is the State Prison, which, under Gov. Crosman’s attentive supervision, is being considerably increased in commodious news by the addition of a new building, one story in height, 22 by 75 feet in extent, and the walls of which are two feet in thickness, of stone, of course. The prisoners look tidy in their new uniforms.

On Sunday evening Warren Noteware was passing Schulz’s Meat Market, when a large dog sprang out upon him. Mr. Noteware sprang to the cross bar in front of the market expecting to rise above the dog, when his left arm caught on a meat hook and he hung there some time before he was rescued. The hook passed through his arm above the elbow. The wound is considered as quite dangerous.

A committee consisting of Joe Smyth, George Kitzmeyer, E.D. Vanderlieth, Dr. Circe, H. Burlington and Colonel H. Day is awaiting the arrival of Gov. Boyle on this afternoon’s motor to take up with him the matter of deciding upon a location for the mobilization of the militia in the state of Nevada.

Eight members of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce have been selected by the nominating committee for the board of directors for 1946-47. Those nominated include Chester Cochran, Ellis Folsom, Kenneth Johnson, W.L. Davis, Jr., Don Armstrong, Jack Shumacher, Archie Pozzi, SR., and E.P. Chambers.

Manford “Cave Rock Manny” Beals has been hit with a state Supreme Court order that will force him to remove numerous signs at his Lake Tahoe business or faces jail for contempt.
