Education achievements: Gardnerville woman earns degree from Georgia Tech

Felicia Groso of Gardnerville earned a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Ga.

Groso was among approximately 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students who received degrees during Georgia Tech’s 251st Commencement exercises on May 6 and 7 at the McCamish Pavilion.

Area natives make dean’s list

Montrashay Worley of Gardnerville was named to dean’s list for the spring 2016 semester at the University of Hartford in Connecticut.

Amy Harrison of Carson City was one of 180 Cornell College students named to the dean’s list for the Spring 2016 semester. Harrison earned High Honors by achieving a grade-point average of 3.8 to 3.99. Cornell College is in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Additionally, Dani-Irene Chaney of Dayton was named to the dean’s list at Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., for the spring 2016 semester. Chaney is majoring in animal and veterinary sciences. Chaney and others on the list achieved a grade-point average between 3.50 and 3.99 on a 4.0 scale.

Fallon man awarded scholarship

Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation awarded 54 scholarships, including Erik Endacott of Fallon.

Winners are selected on the basis of academic excellence, extra-curricular activities, community service and character. WOASF scholarships are $3,000 or more.
