Radium “Ray” Sulprizio, passed away on June 7, 2016 in Carson City, NV at the age of 94 Ray was born March 8, 1922, the third child to parents Deuta and Mary Durbano Sulprizio, in Fresno, CA, where his father had established a successful automotive engine parts manufacturing business, United Engine and Machine Co. In 1929, Ray’s father moved the family and the business to the San Francisco Bay Area, relocating the family in Oakland and the business in San Leandro, where both contiued to grow and thrive.Both as a youngster and an adult, Ray was always quite tall and very slender, and said he could never put on weight, no matter how much he ate. In fact, he used to say that as a child his mother once took him to the doctor because she thought he must have a tapeworm.Ray attended Castlemont High School in Oakland, where he competed in basketball and track. After graduation, attended UC Berkeley for a short time before entering the US Air Force during World Warr II, where he was trained as a fighter pilot, and earned his wings and the rank of second lieutenant, and was commissioned as a flight instructor until the end of the war.Ray was pre eded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Jeanne Sulprizio, older sister, Vatinia Yraceburu, older brother Chal Sulprizio, and son Keith Sulprizio, He is survived by his younger brother Deuta “Babe” Sulprizio, sons Scott Sulprizio and Kent Sulprizio, and daughter Christine Sulprizio, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held July 9th, from 1 pm - 4pm at Silver Oak Golf & Events Center 1251 Country Club Drive, Carson City, NV 89703
