What’s in a name or a title? Apparently a lot.
It seems titles are becoming a lot longer these days. That’s why I want to be known as the Executive Assistant Editor of the Sierra Nevada Media Group Nevada Appeal Branch, Newsroom Division.
And it seems that executive part is really important. Nobody is just a director any more. The person in charge is the Executive Director.
As if that’s going to make me have more respect for the person. Oh, you’re just the director, big deal. Oh wait a minute, you’re the executive director. Then that makes all the difference in the world. I’ll pay attention to you.
Another thing that bugs me is we refer to people we don’t know by their first names. Every announcer refers to LeBron James as LeBron as if they know him. I don’t know him, so if I was the announcer I would always refer to him as James.
And people with their pet names. It’s not Amy Gutierrez, it’s Amy G. Or referring to people just by their initials. That really bugs me, too.
And what’s with K? We’ve become so lazy we can’t even say or text OK anymore?
Anyway, thanks for putting up with this rambling diatribe. This is CW, the Executive Assistant Editor of the Sierra Nevada Media Group Nevada Appeal Branch, Newsroom Division, signing off. K?
