Jose L. Flores, 80 years old, passed away June 21st, at home after a long illness. He was surrounded by members of his family. Jose was born in San Manuel, Texas, January 28, 1936 After graduation from Edinburg High School at the age of 17, he attended Pam American University in Edinburg, Texas for two years. He then decided to leave school and join the US Air Force in 1956. He spent 4 years in the Air Force and was an Instructor, teaching mechanical skills on the aircraft. Jose loved anything concerning mechanical work, replacing motor in his trucks, etc. After discharge from the Air Force, he was employed repairing helicopters for crop dusters. In 1964 Jose moved his family to Fremont, CA. In 1965 he went to work for United Airlines in San Francisco as an airplane mechanic. Retiring after spending 32 years with United Airlines. He loved aircrafts and visited many aircraft museums. Jose also loved country music and played a pedal steel guitar and saxophone. He played in different bands in the 70”s and 80”s. Jose met Goldie, the love of his life in 1984. They married in Carson City, NV, Aug. 1, 1987. Goldie and Jose loved to travel, Hawaii, Canada, etc.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Gustavo, Raul and Ramiro, his sisters, Oralia Flores, and Herlinda Garza and Aida Greer He is survived by his wife Goldie, his brother Lisandro (Sophia), son Larry, (Julie), two daughters Lilly (Rudy) Lomas and Laura Flores, Step children, Donna Davis, Dennis (Elaine) Davis and Rhonda Hallenback. He was a loving grandfather to 15 grandchildren and Step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and Step great-grandchildren. Jose was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone; he will be missed by all of his family and friends. 1 Cor.13:13 - and now abide faith, hope, love, these three but the greatest of these is love.
