Elizabeth L. (Betty) Conner passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Sparks, Nevada. She was born in Roseburg, Oregon. She is survived by her children, Doug Conner of Carson City; Tara Wittenberg (Jim) of Sparks; Robert Conner (Mary) of Corvallis, Oregon; Jim Conner of Elko; grandchildren, Robert, Sara and Andrea; and great grandchildren, Rylie and Jackson. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Steele of Tigard, Oregon. Betty grew up in Oroville, California and there in 1950 married Jack Conner. Together they moved to Carson City in 1956 and ran the family business, Conner’s Jewelers, for many years. She was active in St. Theresa’s Catholic Church and when her children were young had served as president of the PTA at St. Theresa’s parochial school. She worked as the Executive Housekeeper at Carson Tahoe Hospital and also served as president of the Carson Tahoe Hospital Auxillary. Here she enjoyed her volunteer work as a “pink lady.” She had belonged to the LaSertoma International service organization. Betty was an avid baseball mom, always warming the bleacher at one of her kids’ games. She was a resident of the Reno/Sparks area for the last 30 years. A private family memorial will be held. Truckee Meadows Cremation and Burial is in charge of arrangements.
