Greater Nevada welcomes new facilities manager

Michael Wacker has joined Greater Nevada Credit Union as the new facilities manager, a role in which he’s responsible for overseeing the interior and exterior maintenance of Greater Nevada’s 12 branches, as well as its administrative buildings.

Wacker has more than 15 years of experience in construction and facilities management, plus a background in landscape installation and maintenance, carpentry, and other construction trades. Most recently he was the facilities manager for the Girl Scout Council in Arizona, where he was also responsible for risk management.

Local financial advisors honored

Dylan Locke, Steve Rose and Eric Abowd of Abowd & Rose Financial Group were recently awarded recognition from Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company for their achievements last year.

Dylan Locke, financial advisor, qualified for attendance at MassMutual’s Leaders Conference, which recognizes the top 18 percent of the company’s agent sales force. Locke will attend the five-day conference, whose focus is on practice management, networking and agent development, in Nova Scotia in August.

Steve Rose, partner and lead financial advisor, was awarded Blue Chip Circle status from MassMutual, along with qualification for the Leaders Conference. Blue Chip Circle members, who represent the top 5 percent of MassMutual’s sales force, are granted expedited marketing and practice support for their clients.

Eric Abowd, CEO and lead financial advisor, was awarded Chairman’s Club status from MassMutual. This is Abowd’s third year qualifying for the award. Chairman’s Club recipients represent the top 10 annual producers of more than 5,000 agents nationwide.

E.L. Cord Foundation gives grant to youth program

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley received a $10,000 grant from the E.L. Cord Foundation. The grant will be used to support the new Family PLUS Program started in January 2016.

The Family PLUS Program, which stands for Parents Leading, Uniting and Serving, will assist the Boys & Girls Clubs in building the capacity to strengthen families through club-related programming and to form collaborations with caregivers as partners in the positive development of children.

The program’s goals are to create a main contact for parents to confide in, develop a resource room with items for parents in need, host monthly family events, create educational classes for parents and develop a parent recognition program.
