It was announced today by Ed McCaffery, owner of Walton Funeral Home in Reno, that his firm has opened a second funeral home in Carson City. The new home is at 1281 Roop Street, and will be known as Walton Funeral Home Chapel of the Valley.

The Walton Funeral Home branch will be managed by Bill Mills, who has many years of professional experience.

McCaffery said, “This new building is one of the most modern and beautiful funeral homes around.”

The exterior of the new Walton Funeral Home, as described by McCaffery, is contemporary ranch style, and an abundance of native stone was used on the outside walls.

Probably the highlight of the building, however, is the chapel. This lovely room contains wooden pews upholstered in textured fabrics in shades of gold and green. At the front of the room is a large wooden cross, centered between panels which are papered in foil and which features electric sconces in gold leaf.

This continues the Appeal’s review of news stories and headlines during its Sesquicentennial year.
